I was trained in American Studies at Michigan State University, wrote a dissertation on American musical theater, and currently teach US history and museum studies courses. My research and teaching interests are quite split; I write on issues of race/ethnicity in musical theater, and teach just about anything else. I'm in a *very* small department and in many ways I'm the resident generalist, which in part explains my forays into learning about, and hopefully-sooner-rather-than-later implementing, projects in the digital humanities with my students, particularly the museum studies students. And so forth: I play the tuba.
